## Build your government, step by step

See the destination first. A learner registering for school with one tap, a diploma that verifies itself instantly, a government service that just works for the person using it - that is the entire point of what follows. This page runs the story backward, on purpose: from the value a citizen feels, through the infrastructure that makes it possible, to the rules and the plan that started it all.

A suite of knowledge products connects every step, and **Education** threads through as the worked example throughout. Together, they cover what a government needs at minimum for a genuinely transformed digital experience: a citizen who logs in once with a digital ID, pays and gets paid without cash, and holds verifiable credentials in a wallet - powered by a government running on one cloud-based core stack, connected registries, and paperless, real-time services.

This suite exists to make that minimum experience possible at national scale.

{% hint style="info" %} **What this suite of Knowledge Products gives you**

This isn't a shelf of documents — it's a toolkit built to move a government from plan to live, working service:

### Government Digital Services

*What can people now actually do?*

Start here — because this is the whole point of everything else on this page. A learner registers for school automatically, graduates and receives a diploma that verifies itself, applies for a job sharing only what's needed — real moments, in minutes instead of months. The products below are education's proof this already works, start to finish — templates and examples of digital services built on DPI that show in practice how interoperability and trust can be implemented, and that can be replicated to other similar services easily and quickly, in a way that complies with your Enterprise Architecture and Interoperability Framework. Everything that follows explains how a government actually gets here.

### Digital Public Infrastructure

*What do we build once, and share?*

None of that is magic — it's infrastructure. Digital Public Infrastructure is the shared layer a government builds once and reuses everywhere: a sandbox to test in, sovereign cloud to run on, identity and analytics that every service can plug into instead of reinventing. Build this layer well, and Phase 1 stops being a demo and becomes the default.

SECTORAL DPI Domain-specific infrastructure, on shared foundations

Beyond the foundational layer above, individual public-service sectors have their own domain-specific infrastructure needs - their own data, standards, registries, services, and governance requirements. Sectoral DPI is the layer that connects those domain-specific systems to the broader foundational DPI described above, rather than duplicating it.

### Enabling Environment

*What rules make sharing safe?*

But shared infrastructure only earns trust if the rules come first. Before systems start exchanging data, the standards and the law need deciding — not patched in after the fact. Education leans on both of these harder than almost any other sector, because the data at stake belongs to children.

### Planning & Vision

*Where are we going, and in what order?*

And every one of those rules, every Building Block, every service, traces back to a single starting decision: a government sitting down and mapping where it's going, and in what order. In education, that's the moment a ministry sketches its whole learner journey before writing a line of code — the first step that made everything above possible.

Read top to bottom, this page runs the story in reverse, on purpose: **see the service a citizen feels first, then trace it back through infrastructure, rules and planning to the decision that started it all.** None of it is theoretical — every layer ships with something to click, run or watch, and *education is the sector that has already walked the whole path*, from a learner holding a verified diploma in their wallet, back to the GEA-level plan that made it possible. Pick a phase, open the reference implementation, and see how far you can get today.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://experience-digital-transform.gitbook.io/experience-digital-transformation/knowledge-product-gallery.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
